It’s All Opinions Day

They’re only opinions, but at least they’re all mine:

If, as reports indicate, Norm Chow is out as UCLA offensive coordinator, I know what you’re going to ask. The answer is no, he won’t be coming back to USC. Not as long as Lane Kiffin is head coach. Trust me . . .

Imagine if Blake Griffin and LeBron James were on the same team. How much fun would that be to watch? . . .

Just in case you forgot what Kobe The Closer looks like, Wednesday night certainly offered a quick reminder . . .

Now his sister has been arrested in a meth lab raid. This really has been a bad year for Brett Favre . . .

So, exactly what is it you’re doing with all your time these days, Tony Reagins? . . .

I know the odds against it are humungous, but how funny would it be if Pete Carroll and Mark Sanchez wound up against each other in the Super Bowl? . . .

Sorry, but the real MVP of the BCS title game was defensive tackle Nick Fairley, not his Auburn teammate Michael Dyer . . .

College football’s Heisman Trophy race should be interesting next year with Andrew Luck returning to Stanford, LeMichael James back with Oregon and Boise State’s Kellen Moore, who is a slightly smaller version of Luck, also returning . . .

I can’t remember two college quarterbacks I loved to watch as much as Luck and Moore . . .

Ex-UCLA star Kevin Love now has six games of at least 20 points and 20 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Last year, no one in the NBA had more than three . . .

In terms of timing (all it did was seal the playoff victory for Seattle) and degree of difficulty (he only broke about eight tackles), Marshawn Lynch’s 67-yard fourth quarter rumble for the Seahawks has to rank among the top three postseason runs of all time . . .

So what precisely do the Jets think they’ll achieve by running their mouths about Tom Brady? It’s the kind of thing you’d expect from college kids, not from pros . . .

The will-he or won’t-he thing with Carmelo Anthony and a proposed trade is starting to get b-o-r-i-n-g . . .

In Jeff Sagarin’s latest computer basketball rankings, UCLA is 87th in the country. I wonder what the late John Wooden would have thought of that . . .

Good luck to Trevor Hoffman on his retirement, although it probably should have happened a year or two earlier. Either way, the most consistent relief pitcher this side of Mariano Rivera belongs in the Hall of Fame . . .

For what it’s worth, I like the Steelers minus three vs. Baltimore, the Packers plus three at Atlanta, the Bears minus 10 against the Seahawks and the Patriots minus 9 vs. the Jets this weekend . . .

The big heavyweight title fight on the horizon is Vitali Klitschko vs. Odlanier Solis. That’s all you need to know about the present state of boxing . . .

Someone explain to me why Auburn’s creative offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn isn’t a head coach already . . .

Are you listening, Stanford? Malzahn would be a perfect fit for you . . .

Seattle’s terrific little slot receiver Brandon Stokley admits to having suffered more than a dozen concussions in his career. And he still keeps playing? Hard to believe his family is happy about that . . .

On SI.com, they’re already out with a Top 25 college football poll for 2011. Three Pac-12 teams make it, but none of them is USC. That should give them a little extra incentive around Heritage Hall . . .

Ron Rivera leaves the Chargers staff to become the new head coach in Carolina. Too bad. I thought Rivera should have been hired instead of Norv Turner in San Diego in the first place . . .

Sparkling new helmets, fluorescent green shoes, flashy symbols on their jerseys. Oh well, at least Oregon was the best-dressed team in America . . .

  1. If I were Tony Reagins, I would be spending my spare time reading the help wanted ads. Kevin Love has also had a game with zero points, and I can’t imagine anyone who thinks of himself as an all–star letting that happen. Consider the source of the comments by the Jets. Cromartie? Hardly an example of a responsible citizen. Trevor Hoffman definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame. A class act. I like Baltimore and Atlanta in addition to Chicago and New England. What is Klitschko doing fighting Solis? Isn’t he a jockey? In the case of Oregon, it is more than a little ridiculous to hold the championship game five weeks after the end of the season.

  2. The way Griffen and the Clippers played last night against Miami – maybe LeBron (like you noted Steve) and several other BIG NAME free agents should consider coming to LA – maybe Anthony is on the phone now with his agent saying “Forget the Knicks and NJ – get me to LA with Blake! And maybe Reagins is really a Bear and has been hibernating all Free Agency Season – Time to wake up Tony!!

  3. The NIKEproDUCKS uniforms truly represented their team owner, DADDYPIMP Phil Knight. With an NCAA as corrupt as the Mexican government, I look for UofO to have few problems for a very long time. As Cyndi Lauper use to sing “Money canges everything”
