It’s All Opinions Day
They’re only opinions, but at least they’re all mine:
I don’t know about MVP, but Michael Vick is easily the NFL’s MDP — Most Dynamic Player . . .
The thing about Vick is, there is no one else like him. He has freakish athletic ability, and the difference between now and the old Atlanta Falcons’ Vick is that he’s under control, reading defenses and not turning the ball over . . .
In a year when there are no great teams, Vick could be the difference maker who takes the Eagles to the Super Bowl . . .
Wait, Shannon Brown is now taking over games? Like the Lakers needed someone else . . .
Funny to read all the internet columnists predicting the Angels will sign Carl Crawford, Adrian Beltre AND Rafael Soriano. Dream on, guys . . .
At best, I think the Angels will sign Crawford OR Beltre and then a second-tier free agent like Toronto lefty reliever Scott Downs . . .
For all the McCourt bashing going on, the Dodgers now have signed Ted Lilly and Hiroki Kuroda to big-number contracts. Not bad for a club that is supposed to be hurting financially . . .
Bet some people in the Angels’ front office were muttering after Oakland quietly signed KC’s David DeJesus, who figured to be an obvious option if Anaheim couldn’t get Crawford . . .
ESPN’s Trent Dilfer is threatening to become a better football analyst than he was a quarterback, and he wasn’t that bad a quarterback . . .
I honestly believe balanced Boise State and its wonderful quarterback Kellen Moore would beat any team in the country on a neutral field. There, I finally said it . . .
If I were Lane Kiffin, I’d be getting a bit worried about Matt Barkley’s penchant for missing wide open receivers for potential touchdowns. It’s happened twice now in the past two weeks . . .
What’s Vinny Testeverde doing these days? The way NFL quarterbacks are going down in waves, you’d expect Vinny’s phone to be ringing any time now . . .
Why would anyone want to be a Clippers’ fan? . . .
That Sunday night loss to the Patriots proved once again that the Steelers’ most underrated player is Hines Ward, who had to leave the game early with a concussion. Without him making big catches, their offense wasn’t the same . . .
That new mega-contract Donovan McNabb signed made a lot more sense when it was revealed the Redskins can opt out for $3 million or so after one year . . .
McNabb has been a very good player in the league, but right now he doesn’t look like anybody’s quarterback of the future . . .
Wait, so Randy Moss hasn’t fit in so well at Tennessee, huh? Big surprise . . .
Headline: Roy Halladay is unanimous National League Cy Young Award winner. Reaction: DUH! . . .
