It’s All Opinions Day

They’re only opinions, but at least they’re all mine:

Biggest opening night surprise for the Lakers? Two words: Shannon Brown . . .

If the champs’ most athletic player can start hitting threes like that, it’s yet another major weapon in Phil Jackson’s arsenal . . .

The Miami Heat didn’t exactly stink up the joint in its opening loss at Boston, but . . .let’s just say they need to learn how to play together . . .

Anybody who thinks they still won’t be good, however, is kidding himself. They will be very good . . .

Best player on the floor in the first half of that Heat-Celtic game: Rajon Rondo, and it wasn’t even close . . .

Texas has the best pitcher and the better lineup, but somehow you sense the Giants will make the World Series close. Make it the Rangers in seven . . .

Headline: Baseball players’ union would consider more playoff wild cards. Reaction: Why? . . .

I mean, do they want to still be playing after Thanksgiving, or what? . . .

Has it really come to this: A Matt Barkley tweet gets Oregon upset? Come on, that’s stretching it a little, isn’t it? . ..

The atmosphere at the Coliseum on Saturday night should be the best since Ohio State came in here two years ago . . .

The Chargers’ Norv Turner and the Cowboys’ Wade Phillips are both known as players’ coaches. Translation: The players don’t fear them enough to be as disciplined as they should be . . .

Put it this way: You think a Bill Belichick team would ever be as sloppy as San Diego was on Sunday? . . .

Is it my imagination, or is Lane Kiffin starting to loosen up a bit in public? There are even hints a sense of humor is hidden in there somewhere . . .

What’s the over-under on the point total for USC-Oregon? Ninety? . . .

Let’s see, the Angels have Howie Kendrick, Erick Aybar, Macier Izturis and Alberto Callaspo. If they’re shopping for a power hitting third baseman, one of those four has to go, right? . . .

Wonder how Jerry Jones would feel about an all New York Super Bowl, the Jets vs. the Giants in Dallas . . .

How many good players you think the Dodgers could go after if they had access to the McCourts’ lawyers fees? . . .

Sometimes you make good decisions, and sometimes you don’t. I’ll bet Brett Favre, the world’s oldest looking quarterback, was thinking that just the other day . . .

  1. The one thing I am trying to teach my daughter is there is no “I” in the word team. In Miami, you have three “I”s. Last nights Celtic Heat game was as much fun as the Lakers getting their rings then beating the Rockets! Of course that comes from a native So. Ca guy.

  2. I agree about those 4 Angels. Please no more smurfs. You can get away with one or two, but not a team full of them. Eddie Banes big flaw that no one talks about is that he aquired all this undersized talent. Good big men beat good little guys every time.

  3. When the Heat has more time to practice and the players learn about each man’s game, the team will be extremely tough to beat. There has been only one game played. Let’s not get too excited by the loss by the Heat. Talk about no “I” in team. Have you checked out the films of the playoffs last year? All Kobe, all the time. As far as the baseball playoffs go, it would make sense to lengthen them only if the regular season is shortened.
