It’s All Opinions Day

They’re only opinions, but at least they’re all mine:

Yes, the Rangers are in great shape now, and yes, Josh Hamilton is more imposing than anybody in the Yankees’ big payroll lineup . . .

We all knew the Giants’ Cody Ross would be the big hero of the NLCS, right? Yeah, sure we did . . .

All you have to know about the first BCS standings is that five of its computer nerds rank Oregon 9th, 7th, 9th, 8th and 11th, respectively . . .

And tell me, what exactly has Oklahoma done to be ranked No. 1? . . .

The NFL has to start suspending players for those vicious helmet hits. And please, don’t try to tell me most of them aren’t intentional . . .

Readers of this blog aren’t surprised at USC freshman Robert Woods’ new star status. We’ve been alerting you to him since early August . . .

If UCLA caught Texas at the right time, the Bruins may be catching Oregon at the wrong time . . .

Anybody else stay up late to watch the finish of that Washington-Oregon State 35-34 overtime game? It was about as exciting as they come . . .

The scary part for the Chargers is that they’ve been losing all these games in the easy part of their schedule . . .

The Mike Williams resurgence in Seattle vindicates those of us who thought he was the best player in the country his final year at USC . . .

If the Dodgers have no money, how did they just re-sign Ted Lilly for three years? . . .

I don’t remember scouts gushing about any minor league player the way they’re currently gushing about the Angels’ Mike Trout . . .

After divesting himself of his minor share of the Lakers, don’t be surprised if Magic Johnson turns around and buys part of another team, like, oh, say the Detroit Pistons . . .

I know it’s only preseason, but I was the Clippers, I’d be a little nervous about these new injuries to Blake Griffin . . .

You know Fox is just thrilled by the prospect of a San Francisco-Texas World Series . . .

Having no quarterback is a problem. Having both Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick to play the position isn’t . . .

You don’t think Deion Branch wishes he never left New England, do you? . . .

I know newspapers are on the way out, but let me say this about the Boston Globe: It still has the best Sunday sports section going . . .

I don’t know what’s happened to Junior Seau, but I sure hope he gets some help. He was always a class act whenever I dealt with him at USC and the Chargers . . .

Having Rodney Harrison comment on the NFL’s late hitters is like having Cher criticize the outlandish outfits of Lady Gaga . . .

  1. The way I see it, when Dr. Buss gave a minor share of ownership to Magic Johnson, that was a gift no other owner ever gave a player! And to sell it, what are you thinking Magic?

Ronnie Lott! There is an example of one who delivered punishing hits without going after someone’s head.

Steve, you were right again when you told me that Pete was going to bring the Seahawks to the top of their division.

  2. These so-called big hitters have a decided advantage because of the stationary nature of their targets. For example, if a guy like Ray Lewis lined up at one goal line and a guy like Orlando Pace lined up at the other one and they ran head long into each other, who do you think would get the worst of it? The guys that deliver helmet to helmet blows should be forced to be out as long as the player who received the hit.

  3. Good one about Cher. East Coast bias regeigns suprememe on BCE v. Oregon. Oregon kills Oklahoma.
Lets hope the Angels keep developing Mike Trout. Lets also hope the clear the way for Conger to start. The rest of there catchers suck.
